INFINITI Brake Pads FAQ

What Types of INFINITI Brake Pads Are There?

Depending on whether you drive an INFINITI car or SUV, your vehicle has one of four kinds of brake pads.

Organic is for normal driving. They're dependable, they don't produce a lot of dust, they're easy on rotors, and they're low-cost.

Ceramic does better in inclement weather. They don't make a lot of noise, and their dust doesn't stick to wheels as badly.

Metallic, however, withstands high heat. They also feel firmer and withstand brake fade.

Carbon fiber is the toughest material. It's also the best performer. These deliver the most stopping power, and they tolerate very high temperatures.

Most INFINITI cars and SUVs use either organic or metallic. Many sports cars, such as the INFINII Q60, on the other hand, use either ceramic or carbon fiber. The latter do the best job of getting rid of heat. However, no brake pad lasts forever.

When Should You Replace INFINITI Brake Pads?

You can determine the answer by looking for symptoms of your brakes going bad. They range from dashboard warning lights, worn-out pad surfaces, and pad damage to whiny brakes and longer slowing and stopping times. The worst signs, however, are vibrations and grinding noises. They suggest rotor warp and damage because your brake pads have worn out entirely. Otherwise, you should change the pads every 40,000 to 50,000 miles or so.
