INFINITI QX56 was a full-size SUV and a successor to the INFINITI QX4, a mid-size luxury SUV that ran from 1997 to 2003. The model's first generation came out in 2004, built on the Nissan F-Alpha platform, and it had a V8 engine, five-speed auto transmission, and available all-wheel drive (AWD).
After a facelift in 2008, which included brake updates, among other improvements, a second generation came out, namely, in 2010. For model years 2011 to 2013, the SUV switched to the body-on-frame (truck-based) Nissan Patrol platform. It was both longer and wider. It also incorporated a new engine, a seven-speed transmission, an all-new 4WD system, and much better towing capacity. The model was renamed INFINITI QX80 in 2013.
