Help Protect Your Engine with the Right INFINITI Timing Belt
On select INFINITI models, the timing belt keeps critical engine components synchronized throughout every drive. Replacing a worn timing belt at the recommended interval helps maintain proper engine operation and can help prevent more extensive repairs. Modern INFINITI of Winston-Salem offers timing belts designed for eligible INFINITI vehicles.
Why Timing Belts Are Important
The timing belt connects the crankshaft and camshaft so intake and exhaust valves open and close at precisely the correct time. This synchronization is essential for normal engine performance.
How Timing Belts Wear
Timing belts are manufactured from reinforced rubber materials that naturally deteriorate with age, mileage, and repeated heat exposure. Oil leaks and severe operating conditions may accelerate wear.
When Should a Timing Belt Be Replaced?
Your owner's manual and maintenance schedule provide the recommended replacement interval for your specific engine. If cracks, frayed edges, or missing teeth are discovered during inspection, replacement should not be delayed.
Complete Your Engine Service
Whether you own an INFINITI QX60 or an INFINITI QX80, selecting the correct timing belt helps ensure proper fitment. During timing belt replacement, it's also common to inspect related water pumps and belts and hoses.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does every INFINITI engine use a timing belt?
No. Many INFINITI engines use timing chains instead. The type depends on the engine and model year.
Can a timing belt wear out before the recommended interval?
Heat, oil contamination, and demanding operating conditions can contribute to earlier-than-expected wear.
Should the water pump be replaced at the same time?
Many technicians recommend inspecting or replacing the water pump during timing belt service because both components are often accessed together.
