The factory floor mats in your INFINITI EX35 do a great job of coordinating with the rest of the SUV's interior -- including the cargo tray in back. Their main function, however, is to protect your fabric floor liner from accumulating debris and suffering the wear and tear of everyday life. They're available in a number of options. Some feature spikes or grooves to capture dirt and water. They may be advertised as "universal" or "custom" fit. Your floor mats may be made from carpeted fabric or an all-weather material such as rubber, or vinyl.
Fabric mats typically feature a carpeted surface, with soft tufts making a comfortable place to rest feet or bags. They often come with an anti-slip backing to help them stay securely in place. Rubber and vinyl mats are hardier by nature, which leads to them being better suited to rainy climates or seasons. They do a stellar job of holding up to the mud and snow that your shoes bring in when the weather is bad.
