All About INFINITI FX35 Engine Parts
Your mid-size luxury crossover SUV may be distinguished in its segment, but the main parts of its engine are generally the same as many other vehicles in the class. For one, it contains a block, along with a cylinder head and cylinders, plus at least one piston per cylinder. It also has valves and a valve cover, a camshaft and crankshaft, spark plugs, and an oil pan/sump. Here's what each does.
The intake valves regulate the air and fuel that the engine burns to produce power, while the exhaust valves manage the engine's fumes, and the valve covers help protect both sets of valves. The camshaft, however, coordinates the valves' activities, while the cylinder head seals the engine off against both gas and oil escaping. The pistons pump to compress the oxygen and gas and make more energy available for combustion, and the spark plugs ignite that mix; it burns, generating said power. The crankshaft, though, transforms said power into rotary motion, which the drive shaft and transmission use to turn the wheels and tires. Finally, the oil sump/pan stores the motor oil used to lubricate it all.
Many other parts help make sure everything fits together properly. They range from gears and rings to sprockets and bearings. If any of the above wear out and go bad, though, your engine will almost certainly start to have general performance problems. Luckily, they'll show up as a set of specific symptoms, including:
- Idling and acceleration issues
- Worsening fuel economy
- Stalling and/or being unable to start your vehicle at all
See any, and engine repair may be called for. Luckily, our auto parts store has what you'll need for the project: parts straight from the brand you love.
