All About INFINITI FX35 Radiators

The radiator in your luxury mid-size crossover helps "sink" (reduce the effects of) the heat generated as its engine runs. This helps to keep the engine from overheating. How it works is a process, one that starts with coolant (antifreeze) and ends with an engine that works better and lasts longer.

First, the coolant absorbs the heat as it flows back and forth between an inlet and outlet through radiator hoses (with help from a water pump). As the antifreeze travels, a radiator cap pressurizes it; this helps the fluid take on maximum heat. A set of fins on the radiator core then expel the accumulated heat, after which a cooling fan scatters it into the air nearby.

When radiators go bad, however, they almost invariably cause problems -- everything from car heating and air conditioning malfunctions to the above-mentioned overheats, even total engine failure. The signs of a failing radiator are relatively easy to spot, though. Look for:

  • Damage to the core's fins
  • Unusual noises coming from the engine
  • The coolant turning to sludge
  • A sweet, syrupy ethylene glycol smell, accompanying a coolant leak

If you think your SUV is facing radiator failure, take a look at its temperature gauge first; it'll tell you if the engine's running hot. Do a complete inspection afterward, and if the results indicate that replacement is necessary, take care of it immediately. However, avoid the aftermarket; install the genuine article.

Why Buy a Genuine OEM Radiator?

INFINITI manufactures radiators for its FX35 models specifically. It follows that one will fit your crossover SUV perfectly. The aftermarket can't always claim the same.
